Our friends at Bat Conservation Ireland kindly invited us to attend their 9th Irish Bat Conference on 15th October 2017. Our Chairperson, Karen Healy delivered a workshop ‘Bat Care Northern Ireland’ to delegates.
On Saturday 21st April, Karen delivered ‘Introduction to Bat Care’ workshop to 15 veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and wildlife rehabilitators in Athlone.
Following on from this, we have now set up the All Ireland Bat Care Network to train new ambulance drivers and bat carers across the island of Ireland. This will help us recruit new volunteers to cover border counties where we currently have no one in place to rescue bats. A Facebook Group has also been set up, any current ambulance drivers and bat carers in Northern Ireland can join by visiting our facebook page www.facebook.com/NorthernIrelandBatGroup
Our ‘Introduction to Bat Care’ workshop will be delivered free to current ambulance drivers in Northern Ireland (min 2+ years experience required to complete training) later in the year. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and event section of our website for details on training events over the coming months.
