Date(s) - 8th March 2019
11:00 am - 1:00 pm

We are offering a free training session for volunteers who would like to join our bat rescue programme in 2019 and learn more about these amazing wee mammals.

Our Bat Ambulance Drivers are at the heart of our work, they are the first point of contact for members of the public who find injured/grounded bats. Bat ambulance drivers collect, feed, rehydrate and release uninjured bats, take injured bats to the vet for assessment and bring long term care bats to their nearest bat carer.

During the session you will find out how to go about getting your free vaccinations, basic bat handling, bat ID and assessing common injuries. Once the course is completed, you will have the option of being added to the National Bat Helpline run by Bat Conservation Trust and will be included on the list of bat ambulance drivers on our website.

The training is free to members of the NI Bat Group and is the first step to becoming a registered bat carer.

Bat handling gloves and transport box will be provided after vaccination and volunteer registration completed. Note: You will need your vaccination before the training course in order to complete the bat handling part of the session.

Age 18+. Access to own transport desirable but not essential – we are looking for volunteers to give advice to members of the public over the phone too.
