Bats a Fact

bat stall15 primary schools in Derry, Strabane, Ballykelly and Omagh took part in our ‘Bats a Fact’ workshop funded by NIEA Challenge Fund 2014.  We created a batty cafe in each school and played lots of fun batty games. We also showcased our fabulous new exhibition which depicts where bats live, a view inside a ‘bat box’. batty myths and how you can help bats.

Bat costume“Legenderry” Clipper Maritime Festival  June 2014

Derry City Council estimated the event had over 100 000 visitors; we were delighted to be part of the celebrations! We had a great time with Creggan Country Park   – lots of people interested in bats and a lot of people even requesting bat boxes – fantastic! A big thank you to everyone who visited our stall over the 2 days and of course to our wonderful volunteers, Caoimhe and Mairead Parke, Robin Moffitt, Ursula Moffitt and Maria Prince; we couldn’t have done it without you! A big thank you to Lisa Worledge from Bat Conservation Trust for the loan of the bat costume – it looks fab!
