Challenge Fund Success

We are delighted to announce that we have received £6,698 from the NIEA Challenge Fund and DAERA for ‘The Northern Ireland Bat Project.’ We will create an education resouce for schools, purchase monitoring equipment and deliver batty education workshops in primary schools across Northern Ireland.

Our education resource will be free to download from our website after 31st March 2017 and will have fact sheets and activity sheets linked to the National Curriculum covering subjects such as Maths, English, Science, Geography and Art as well as complimenting the Eco Schools Programme.

We will deliver a free workshop ‘Bats a Fact’ to two primary schools in each of the 11 council areas throughout February 2017. A full description of the workshop is outlined below:

Duration: 1.5hours (10.30 – 12 or 1.30pm – 3pm)

Description:
Bats a Fact is an interactive workshop designed to raise awareness on bats and how they use the landscape. The session will begin with a general talk on bats, why they are important, how we can help them and bat species around the world. Pupils will then take part in a bat themed art activity, game and a quiz. Pupils will then be presented with a special batty sticker for completing the workshop. All equipment provided.
