If you have access to a watercourse, you may be able to partake in the Daubentons Waterway Survey.

The Daubentons Waterway Survey provides information about this waterway specific bat.

You don’t need experience of bat surveys, you just need a tuneable heterodyne bat detector, a torch and some online training.

The surveys take place in August and it’s a 1km walk along a river with 10 listening stops.

There are waterways already registered but if you have another one you would like to do and safely access, Bat Conservation Ireland can accommodate.
